8 things you may not know about me

1.  I will be leaving my entire family and the only church I’ve ever known to follow my husband to Akron, Ohio where he will have the privilege of leading Covenant of Grace Church as their senior pastor.

2. we will be rellocating sometime in the fall

3. I am in Akron right now and just spent two days from 9 to 5 house hunting.

4. we just had a contract accepted on an incredible home in Wadsworth, OH. Thank you so much those of you who prayed for us. I will post pictures of the house soon. It is incredible. One huge blessing is the cost of housing is so much lower in Ohio (at least in this area of Ohio).

5. I have never experienced such a range of emotions simultaneously in my life: happy, sad, excited, scared, and much more.

6. Jason has been amazing through the whole process. (okay, I know this is supposed to be about me, but I couldn’t help but say this about Jason and I will brag on him in more detail later.)

7. I can’t wait to finally share all of what God has been showing me through this adventure which began about a year ago. I am in awe of His patience, mercy, and faithfulness through this process. He has been so good to us.

8.  I had planned about one hundred ways to blog about “the big move” we are making, but this gets the info out there without all of the drama….don’t worry, plenty drama to come!!!

  1. wish you were moving to NW Ohio instead of Eastern Ohio!! Steve and I are under pressure to move back home with the first grandchild on the way…and I’d sure love to go to a SG church! anyway, best wishes on your transition.

  2. Congrads on getting a contract accepted on a house! Would love to see pictures . . . although I still can’t believe you’re really moving!

  3. Looking forward to reading the “dramatic” details of this new adventure. ;) I am excited for you!

  4. Boohoo, sniff sniff. I could do without the drama if it meant keeping you here. But I know God has bigger and better plans than for you guys.

  5. AHHH!!! So happy to hear you’ve got an accepted contract. How kind of God to allow you to take care of that while you were out there this week. Can’t wait to see pictures. Are there any homes close by that would be just too good to refuse for us maybe? :)

Can’t wait to hear all about your time there and how God is meeting you. Praying for you. Miss you.

  6. Oh wow! I’m happy and sad for you (Can you be both, at the same time?!) What an adventure. I pray that it will deepen your relationships with the Lord and with Jason.

  7. Wow. This will be a time of stretching and adventure! You will be so blessed for your obedience and willing heart, Laurie. Just from personal experience, when you follow your hubby and relocate, God provides the home you always had in your heart, with the exception of our eternal home of course. I will be praying for you and for your children with specific thoughts towards new, Godly friends for all. You never could replace that neat group there, so I grieve that for you, but just think of all the new moms you’ll bless and get to mentor and share your wisdom with!

  8. So glad to hear about the house! When we didn’t see you Sunday, I figured you and Jason were out in Ohio, and by extension, house hunting, so we have been praying for the last few days for you. Thank you for the example you’ve set of what it means to follow your husband where he goes and stay where he stays!

Praying that God will grant you safe travel back here!

  9. I’m praying for you too and know that God will bless and meet your family in powerful ways through this. I so respect you guys for following God’s call away from all the comforts of home. He will reward you richly! And He’s so faithful to meet every one of you individually and together as a family.
    You’re on my heart!

  10. Wow! You have my deepest respect. Thank you for your example. I will be praying for you and your family during this transition.

  11. How exciting, Laurie! Thank you for your example in joyfully submitting to the Lord and your husband! What an exciting season you must be in right now! Looking forward to reading about the many ways our faithful God provides for, cares for, and refines your family! Praying for you as your prepare to make the “big move”! xoxo, Kelly

  12. I know you don’t know me… but I’m friends with the Buckleys. and when I saw the title of your blog on Paul’s blog, being a new mom, I had to take a look.
I actually attended Covenant of Grace in Akron for 18 years. My family and I moved 5 years ago to help plant the south Boston church, which is where we are now.
I pray for COG often. And now this includes your family as well. I will pray for the sale of your house. And for the transition. I’m excited for what God has in store for you!
    God bless!

  13. ok Laurie….since I have heard of the big news, I have been hoping to bump into you at Panera or B&N to get the details. I have many questions to ask you & hope that through your blog some will be answered! Matt and I are excited for you & your family & we are praying!
